Weapons & Ancillaries

XTEK Weapons and Ancillaries imports and distributes a range of well priced firearms, ammunition, and accessories, suited to the Australian hunter and sport shooter. XTEK imports and sells a range of high quality lethal and less-lethal products for the Law Enforcement and Military market. We have worked closely with Australian Law Enforcement and Military agencies to supply them with the Blaser Tactical 2 .338 Long Range Weapons System. XTEK has complemented this system with the addition of a number of XTEK designed and manufactured enhancements, including customized Picatinny rails for a specific accessory interfaces,varying inclination scope mounts, and other user interfaces on the rifle.

AeroVironment is a technology solutions provider that designs, develops, produces and supports an advanced portfolio of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and electric transportation solutions.  Agencies of the U.S. Department of Defense and allied military services use the company’s electric-powered, hand-launched unmanned aircraft systems extensively to provide situational awareness to tactical operating units through real-time, airborne reconnaissance, surveillance and communication.  AeroVironment’s electric transportation solutions include a comprehensive suite of electric vehicle (EV) charging systems, installation and data services for consumers, automakers, utilities and government agencies, power cycling and test systems for EV developers and industrial electric vehicle charging systems for commercial fleets.

XTEK is the primary provider to the Department of Defence for portable X-ray equipment, demolition remote firing systems, search, detection equipment, Hook and Line EOD tools and heavy RPV robots.

XTEK supports EOD and Tactical Law Enforcement agencies within Australia with all equipment from wire cutters to Bomb Response Vehicles. XTEK also has the ability to provide more than off the shelf solutions with the backing of an experienced engineering and maintenance division. Experience and expertise
Mr. Boettcher is the Principal of the law firm, Boettcher Law, starting his career at Mallesons Stephen Jaques and most recently having been a partner at Abbott Tout Lawyers. He is a fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Notaries and a practicing Notary Public. He was appointed as a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Banking and Finance in 2005 and of FINSIA in 2007. He is one of the founding Committee Member of Capital Angels. In 1996/97 he was the Treasurer of the ACT Law Society. He is a past Chairman of the National Health Sciences Centre Limited and the Australasian Legal Alliance.

Mr Brian G Malcolm
Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Malcolm is a highly accomplished Defence specialist with extensive military operational experience in the fields of ammunition and explosives management, explosive ordnance disposal, logistics and counter-terrorism. After graduating from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Mr. Malcolm served with the British Army for some 17 years before accepting a commission in the Australian Army in 2007. He spent over seven of his twenty-one years military service on active operations and was awarded the Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service in the 2004 Operational Honours List. Mr. Malcolm has also successfully held a number of demanding strategic staff appointments during his military career, serving in England, Germany, Northern Ireland and Whitehall. Most recently, Mr. Malcolm successfully undertook the role of Principal Ammunition Technical Officer within Australian Army Headquarters in Canberra.

Mr. Malcolm has a Master of Arts degree in Defence Studies from Cranfield University and holds a Graduateship of the City and Guilds Institute of London in Military Technology. He is a graduate of the United Kingdom Ammunition Technical Officer and Advanced Logistic Support courses and successfully completed the United Kingdom Joint Services Advanced Command and Staff Course in 2001. Mr. Malcolm also holds a Managing Successful Programs Qualification from the Bristol Management Centre. He is a member of the Institute of Explosives Engineers and the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators.

Mr. Malcolm was appointed by the XTEK Ltd Board of Directors as the Chief Executive Officer effective from 4 February 2011.

Mr. Lawrence (Laurie) Gardiner

Experience and expertise
Mr. Gardiner has completed over 40 years service with Australian Army and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) in the specialist fields of Explosive Ordnance (EO) and Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD) operations. Mr. Gardiner performed EO/IEDD management, test/repair, investigations, disposal and training functions during his service with the Army and the AFP. In 1991, he was recognized in the Australian Honors and Awards list for his dedicated service to military and police bomb response operations. During his service with the AFP, Mr. Gardiner was responsible for technical management of all bomb response programs (Canine and Appraisal) as part of the Counter Terrorist First Response (CTFR) capability of the AFP at International and Domestic Airports within Australia. Mr. Gardiner has lectured nationally and internationally and had his work published in a range of professional journals. In June 2003, he retired from the AFP and accepted an Executive Management position with XTEK Limited. Mr. Gardiner is currently appointed as an Executive Director and Company Secretary of the Company and in addition oversights all corporate service functions. In addition, Mr. Gardiner has served as the International Director of the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators (IABTI) and is now appointed as an IABTI Trustee. He has been awarded the prestigious Roger Goad Memorial Award and the Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his dedication and services to IABTI and the worldwide EOD/IEDD community.

Mr Robert (Bob) Quodling
Non-Executive Director

Robert (Bob) Quodling has extensive experience as a leader and motivator of high performance teams in the defence and aerospace sectors at the operational and executive level. His skills have been gained in a diverse range of activities including corporate governance, corporate planning, financial planning, project management, marketing, sales and business development.

Bob is a co-founder, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Simmersion Holdings Pty Limited. He was instrumental in establishing and growing Simmersion from start up.

Prior to 2004, Bob ran his own consulting business and before that held appointments as CEO Fire Control Systems, General Manager - Operations and Marketing and Director Business Development at Electro Optic Systems (EOS), in Canberra, Australia. He held a range of command and operations appointments in the Australian Army between 1975 and 1994, and was awarded a Conspicuous Service Medal (CSM) for conspicuous service with the Special Air Service Regiment.

Mr Ivan Slavich

Mr. Slavich has over 25 years of senior management experience in the energy, government, banking and telecommunications industries. He has a proven track record over numerous years of being an exceptional leader and motivator; developing and implementing strategic innovations; business process re-engineering and integration and substantially improving business sales and profitability.

Mr. Slavich is the Chairman of TransACT Communications Pty Limited and associated group companies (all of whom are wholly owned subsidiaries of iiNet – an ASX 200 $1bn company). Mr. Slavich also recently launched Trident Corporate Services (MD), a B2B company providing full turn-key services to businesses and government.
