Functional Testing

Here at Keywords we are aware of the need for thorough QA on all titles. Poor QA could affect sales and perceived quality of titles. Our team is here to help find the most difficult of issues and improve the stability of your titles.

The services we have available for you are as follows:

Structured coverage to ensure that every feature of the title works as intended and that the title is robust enough to handle user input edge cases, such as the following:

  • Interrupts
  • Peripheral Handling
  • Load and Save Stability

Game-specific test cases are generated on a project-by project basis, which will cover platform-specific use cases, title-specific functionality, edge case testing and explorative testing. Video capture devices will be used on all work stations to increase productivity and also ensure that screenshots/videos are applied to all bugs, ensuring you receive all vital information.

Based on guidelines defined by the first party publishers (TRCs, TCRs, Lotcheck), rigorous testing will be performed on any title to ensure it matches these defined expectations. Examples include:

  • Naming Conventions & Error messages
  • Save Data Handling
  • Save flows
  • Networking
  • BVTs and FTCs

Test cases will be executed depending on the stage of the project. Rounds of Compliance can be done on projects with weekly build deliveries, or more frequent schedules, depending on your preference.

With Compliance FQA, we can also offer recommendations on the readiness of your games, based on the bugs we have encountered during testing. This will help you in deciding if a title is ready to submit or not, potentially saving you the cost of resubmission.

This is testing to ensure that a title can be played in multiple environments by all types of people. It will mainly concentrate on the questions you should be asking yourself when performing accessibility testing and how to structure your testing in order to make gameplay as broad and accessible as possible. It is recommended that this is done during the pre-Alpha stage of development, as changes are easy to suggest and implement. This can also be done in conjunction with FQA.
