Australian business software developer BOS GLOBAL HOLDINGS Limited (LON:BOS) has moved a step closer to securing key patents on its intellectual property (IP).

The workplace optimisation software specialist revealed that IP Australia has issued reports on Australian patent applications 2017200601 (Managing Activities Performed By Users) and 2017200602 (Verifying Time Based Services) and, according to BOS's patent attorneys the patent applications should proceed to acceptance once a few formalities have been finalised.

Both patents support the commercialisation of BOS GLOBAL products (BOS Time and BOS360 Work Patterns Platform as a Service).

"This is a material event for the company and its shareholders and will fast track these acceptances in both UK and USA ahead of the launch of BOS Time and the BOS360 Work Patterns Platform as a Service in May 2017," said BOS's managing director, Michael Travia.

Shares in BOS surged 9.8% to 9.06p on the news and are up 21% year-to-date.
