Global Health appoints industry expert to develop Asean opportunities

Asia presents a strategic and significant growth opportunity for the company.

Global Health Ltd (ASX:GLH) has appointed Islah Ishak as regional general manager for the Asean market, which has a population of over 625 mln people.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) includes ten Southeast Asian countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, among others.

Islah has joined Global Health’s senior management team with a background of over 20 years in business development in the medical and technology industries in Malaysia.

Islah’s most recent role was as the director of investment and trade for the Victorian State Government South East Asia Business Office in Kuala Lumpur.

His role focused on developing trade opportunities in the biotech, medtech, pharmaceuticals, health and aged care segments.

As regional general manager, Islah is tasked with developing direct sales opportunities and channel partners across the Asean region for Global Health.

Global Health is a provider of digital health solutions that address the needs of administrators, funders, clinicians and consumers across the healthcare industry.

The new senior role based in Kuala Lumpur was established following encouraging interest in Global Health’s software portfolio from a variety of parties in the Asean region.

With 60% of the world’s population and one of the highest growth rates in the world, Asia presents a strategic and significant growth opportunity for the company.

The newly appointed regional general manager commented: “The model of a connected, consumer-centric health care ecosystem which is at the core of Global Health’s vision, has the potential to radically disrupt health care in the Asean market.

“The mobile-first design of Global Health’s platforms is especially relevant in Asia where mobile telephones are central to daily living and mobile Internet coverage reaches everyone.”
