The Business & Technology Divisions of SEB
SEB has two divisions. In the Benefits Division, SEB operates as a licensed Third Party Administrator (“TPA”), insurance broker, and technology provider utilizing its fully integrated administration – adjudication – claims paying – reporting software platform to provide “totally hosted PCI compliant modular solutions” for managing portions or all of the complete group benefits business processes between insurers, clients, brokers, consultants, technology service providers and healthcare service providers.
The Technology Division supports the Benefits Division and provides SEB the security clearances, vendor of record arrangements, project references and technical team to successfully compete on government solutions via RFP processes. SEB, with its various partners, operates as a systems integrator utilizing its technology platform together with other technologies to provide customized solutions for highly specialized benefits administration and claims processing environments. The technology and expertise deployed in this area also allows SEB to provide other related supply chain, systems integration and human resource solutions and services to the same clients. SEB has a number of service lines including PeopleSoft, Oracle, and Microsoft cloud solutions. It also has specialty practice areas in Microsoft BizTalk Professional Services, supply chain consulting, EDI certification, vendor roll-out services, compliance services, managed services and hosted services through a state-of-the-art, secure PCI certified environment.

John McKimm, BBA, MBA, LLB, FCSI
President, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Information Officer
John McKimm sets corporate direction and business strategy, which includes an aggressive emphasis on growth through mergers and acquisitions. Mr. McKimm possesses a deep knowledge in dealing with emerging and growth companies, specifically with respect to providing specialty services in SR&ED claims, strategic and financial restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, operational restructuring and the arrangement of financing. As the lead visionary of SEB Inc., he is also actively involved in both day-to-day operational and sales and marketing activities of the enterprise and its subsidiary and affiliated companies.
Mr. McKimm’s experience spans over 35 years of serving as a director and an officer of many public and private companies, where he provided operations, investment banking, and corporate financing expertise. This experience covers a range of sectors, including financial services, computer hardware, software and services, manufacturing, petrochemical, mining, oil and gas, food processing, telecom, waste management, biotechnology and retail. He has personally identified, negotiated and executed more than 150 individual merger, acquisition and financing transactions, both as a principal and as an agent.
He also founded and was Chairman and CEO of Brainhunter Inc. (TSX: BH), a technology-based service company that he took public after raising more than $70 million in debt and equity capital, growing it from start-up to more than $235 million in annual revenue. Previously, he was executive chairman of Daedalin eSolutions Inc., a firm he recapitalized and reorganized, then took public and sold for $29 million.
Mr. McKimm is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Business Administration, and a graduate of the University of Western Ontario with a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Law. John also has a number of industry certifications and designations. He has published extensively on select investment and financial restructuring topics.
Robert Prentice, CA
Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Corporate Secretary
A proven CFO and Technology Industry leader, Mr. Prentice is one of the co-founders of Smart Employee Benefits Inc. Instrumental in SEB’s success to date, his 40 years of experience (20 at a senior executive level) have helped shape the Company’s strategic direction and significantly contributed to the growth in shareholder value.
The SEB Group of Companies have leveraged his extensive operational and financial leadership, gained from his roles at both entrepreneurial and Fortune 500 companies. His in-depth knowledge of financing, managing acquisition based growth companies, and implementing best practices was part of the reason for Brainhunter Inc. (TSX:BH) dramatic success, where he was also co-founder and CFO.
Annie Holmes, CPA, CA
Senior Vice-President, Finance & Administration
Annie Holmes is a seasoned financial professional with over twenty years’ experience encompassing strategic oversight, operations and finance. Decisive, profit driven and results oriented, she has a proven track record of success both domestically and globally. Her experience includes Principal of Chartered Course, a successful consulting practice, Vice President of Aviva Insurance, and Senior Advisor to publicly traded Katanga Mining (TSX: KAT).
In addition, she has been a Board Member for a number of non-profits, including United Way and the Rouge Valley Health System.
Senior Vice-President, Chief Information Officer
While maintaining the position of SVP, CIO at SEB, Mr. D’souza is also the Managing Partner at Inforica, an SEB Company, focused in the areas of Enterprise Solutions and Technology Consulting. Mr. D’Souza plays the role Chief Solutions Architect at Inforica, and provides technical solutions leadership on all projects. He has over 25 years of strong IT Systems and Business Solutions experience encompassing requirements analysis, design, development and implementation of business applications. Mr. D’Souza has extensive experience implementing Microsoft Dynamics CRM, PeopleSoft CRM and ERP, and has extensive software architecture and development expertise in Java and .NET frameworks. He also has extensive experience working on a number of Enterprise CRM, ERP, Business Intelligence and Business Process Automation projects for customers in Canada, United States, India and the Middle East.
Prior to joining Inforica, Mr. D’Souza held Senior IT positions at MFP Technology Solutions and Watts Communications. He holds Bachelor of Science from Nagarjuna University, India, and a Graduate Diploma in Computer Science from Concordia University, Canada. Mr. D’Souza a Microsoft Certified Professional and holds a number of Microsoft product certifications.
Senior Vice-President, Chief Technology Officer
Alongside his position as SVP, CTO at SEB, Mr. Correia is currently a Managing Partner at Inforica. He holds a B.Sc in Electronic & Telecommunications Engineering bringing over 22 years of experience from the Information Technology Industry. Mario manages the local and International operations at Inforica and provides the leadership for the continued development of an innovative, robust, and secure information technology environment throughout the company. His primary responsibilities encompass a wide variety of strategic technology issues: governance and policy, resource allocation and information technology protocols. He is responsible for delivery of IT infrastructure and services, information security systems and compliance, administrative systems, and client support services.
Mario has also been instrumental in architecting, designing, project managing and implementing Customer Relationship Management enabled Contact Center solutions, Custom Application development and Cloud based solutions into a number of industries to include Banking, Mutual Fund, Retail, Non-Profit, Construction, and Car Manufacturing sectors. He has direct experience in the analysis, design, development, testing and implementation of application software.
Peter Ling Yu directs SEB Inc’s technology landscape and oversees all matters pertaining to technology-related initiatives. He is highly proficient in developing health care claims adjudication and administration platforms. Mr. Yu is multi-lingual and possesses over 18 years of experience in software development, including 10 years of management experience, in Canada and China. He specializes in Java/JEE and Open Source Solutions, although his strong skill-set includes SQL, database design, and object-relational (O/R) mapping. Mr. Yu has successfully utilized onshore, offshore, and nearshore development initiatives for domestic and international clients.
Mr. Yu served as the Deputy Vice President of Highcom Software until 2004, where he played a leading role in architecting and designing technical solutions. His programming experience covers a range of languages, including Java/J2EE, .Net, PHP, Java Script, C/C++ and CGI. Mr. Yu also has more than 10 years of experience working with various operating systems, including IRIX, Solaris, Sco Unix, Linux and Windows Server, as well as expertise with different Relational Database Systems, such as Oracle, MS SQL server, My SQL, DB2 and Sybase.
Mr. Yu holds a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Harbin Institute of Technology.
Mohamad El Chayah
President, SEB Administrative Services Inc.
Mohamad El Chayah has held various leadership positions at several global IT services companies. Bringing extensive experience building, growing and transforming strong teams in organizations such as Atos Origin, Hewlett-Packard, and Aon Hewitt, he has maximized revenue, increased operational effectiveness and improved profitability.
Strategic, aspirational, and driven by a vision for excellence, Mr. El Chayah possesses a deep knowledge of the IT services market and has a proven track record for qualifying business prospects, shaping and developing opportunities, using his persuasive negotiation skills, and managing and closing large complex deal constructs.
He has orchestrated win/win value propositions, closed multi-million dollar sales, and helped Fortune 500 companies grow in mature, developed, and emerging markets. His methodical approach to developing viable and lucrative business cases includes measuring assets, human resources and financial factors among many other credentials.

Chief Executive Officer, Co-Founder, Paradigm Consulting Group Inc.
Mark Hustak is CEO, Co-Founder of Paradigm Consulting Group Inc., responsible for Financial Management, Business Management, Business Planning, and Corporate Governance processes. Mr. Hustak leads corporate strategy for Paradigm including market development, service offerings, executive hiring, and consulting talent recruitment. He oversees delivery quality, professional development and training strategy. Mr. Hustak’s industry experience expands three decades. His credentials include Certified Management Consultant, Prince2 Practitioner, PMP Certification, ISP Certification and a B.Admin. in Operations Research and Computer Science from the University of Regina.
Mr. Hustak’s started his IT consulting career in 1978 with the Saskatchewan Government Systems Centre. In 1984, he joined Management Systems Limited (MSL) a Regina-based consulting company that was later acquired by Westbridge Computer Corporation, and became ISM (Information Systems Management) Corporation owned by IBM. He transferred to ISM Manitoba in 1992 as Director of the Professional Services division of IBM’s ISM Manitoba business unit.
Douglas Brian Deeks, CPA, CA
COO, Maplesoft Group
SVP Government Relations, SEB
A Senior Executive who provides leadership across the spectrum of Governance, Marketing and Business Development, Finance and Accounting, Service and Solutions Delivery, Administration, Cyber Security and Information Management. Mr. Deeks is a Chartered Accountant who has worked in the professional services sector for over 30 years.
Most recently, Mr. Deeks led the Due Diligence Review related to SEB’s acquisition of the Maplesoft Group, a major consulting firm supporting the Federal Government as well as other levels of the public sector. He currently is the Chief Operating Officer for SEB’s combined Ottawa operations (Maplesoft and SOMOS) and is SEB’s Senior Vice-President, Government Relations.
His early career was spent in public accounting, working for one of the Big 5 Accounting firms in the Calgary, New York, Milan and Ottawa offices of Deloitte Touche. Mr. Deeks then worked for over 25 years in the professional services sector with a focus on the Government of Canada. He gained unique insights into the Defence and Security sector leading a company that supports Army, Navy, Air Force and Joint environments of the Canadian Forces as well as NATO, Canada’s Intelligence and Security community and the Space sector. This included expansion into Europe through a highly successful acquisition initiative in which he played a key leadership role. He was also the point person on an acquisition of an IT consulting firm operating in the GTA.
Mr. Deeks has extensive international experience working in the European region (Italy, Belgium and UK) and has worked with multi-national organizations and off-shore suppliers to the Canadian Defence Sector. He has been responsible for significant marketing and business development initiatives related to technology and professional services aimed at the Public Sector, Defence, Space, Security and Transportation sectors. He has led initiatives related to Programme/Project Management, Cyber and IT Security, Enterprise Architecture, Software and Communications Engineering, Analytics and ERP implementations into these sectors.
Highly respected by clients and partners for his business acumen and integrity; by executive colleagues and technical leaders for his ability to manage the convergence of sales and marketing, operations, finance and human resources; and, by staff for leadership, communications and ability to motivate. Mr. Deeks has an excellent appreciation for the machinery of government with a primary focus on the IT, Defence, Security, Space and Transportation sectors.
