Uber Technologies Inc (NYSE:UBER) has revealed that soon all its New York users will be able to book helicopter flights to John F. Kennedy International airport through their apps.

In a statement, the ride-hailing company said its Uber Copter flights, to and from Lower Manhattan, will become available to all Uber users on October 7, having been made available to its premium members in June.

The around eight-minute flight will cost between $200 and $225 per person and will include ground transportation on either side of the trip.

Uber’s prices are largely in line with those of competitors, such as Blade, which offers a $195 trip to JFK from Manhattan, although other services do not offer ground transportation to the final destination..

The group said the flights in Uber-branded helicopters are operated by HeliFlite Shares, a licensed New Jersey-based charter company.

JFK is one of the largest airports in the USA and ground trips from Manhattan can take anywhere from one to two hours, while public transport takes between 50 and 75 minutes.

Uber has already announced plans for Uber Air, with commercial electric airborne services in Los Angeles, Dallas and Australia’s Melbourne from 2023 to see users hailing flights from the top of designated buildings.
